Zack Snyder Shares New Photo Of Mera In Support Of ‘Aquaman’

If there’s one thing you can say about Zack Snyder, it’s that his photography and images with the DC films draw a crowd. Whether it was the first look at J. K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, the Bat-Signal, or characters from Justice League, Snyder has an eye for photography. And you’ll recall that, during the production of Justice League, Snyder released a photo of Amber Heard’s Mera — the same image that you see above. Note the position, because it will be a bit noteworthy when talking about a new photo and Aquaman.

While Aquaman is being helmed by James Wan, Snyder himself is still an Executive Producer on the project, given how he was involved with much of the casting for these characters for the films. As he normally does, Snyder engages with fans and answers questions fielded his way on Vero. While some in fandom may not be seeing the film based on how Warner Bros. interfered with Zack Snyder’s original plans for Justice League, Snyder himself is very much anticipating the upcoming film.

And he said as much in a photo he shared on Vero last night of Amber Heard’s Mera from Justice League. ‘But wait,’ you might be saying, ‘That’s the exact same photo.’ Well, not exactly. The positioning is a bit different. Whereas with the first photo, Mera stands with her right leg on one of the rocks, in this recent photo, she’s standing straight up. Minor difference, but still a new photo nonetheless. Accompanying the image is the caption: “The future queen rises from the mist. Dec 14.” Here, have a look.

Now while the film is opening in the United States on December 21, it is showing a week or so earlier in other territories, so perhaps Zack Snyder’s post is in reference to that, meaning he may be at one of those screenings. Either way, it’s a nice show of support from one DC films director to another. And even though Zack Snyder may not currently be directing a DC project, he’s still very much looking forward to what this cinematic universe that he created has in store down the line.
