Director Zack Snyder revealed why Batman used a spear against Superman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice instead of the Dark Knight's usual tech.
Posting the reveal to his official Vero account and further shared by a Reddit user, Zcak Snyder confirmed his commitment to religious symbolism by sharing a picture of Jesus on the cross, with the Spear of Destiny, Holy Lance being used to stab him as he hangs. Check it out below:
Zack Snyder further confirmed the symbolism while interacting with a fan who was discussing the allegories found throughout Batman v Superman, saying he and writer Chris Terrio had many discussions on how to layer the Spear of Destiny, Holy Lance symbolism with Gordian knot allegories. Take a look:
