Justice League director Zack Snyder says there will be a difference between the woman we first meet in Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman and the one who will appear in his film in November. It’s not that they’ll be two different people, but she’ll have gone through different periods of her life and, according to Snyder, Diana will come to realize that “humanity isn’t always the most kind and awesome thing.”
“It has its moments, but it can be brutal, and her coming to terms with that dichotomy is what we come to learn about her. And in Justice League, she’s fully evolved into someone who’s embraced mankind, partly through Superman’s sacrifice. She’s like, ‘All right, I’ve got to pick it up.’”
Diana’s change and evolution, which includes her embrace of mankind, probably stems from the events that we’ll see play out in her solo movie.
Zack Snyder also says that Justice League is “all about the filling-out of this massive comic-book pantheon with the biggest and coolest heroes we could.”
Wonder Woman, starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, and David Thewlis, is out in theaters on June 2, 2017. Justice League, starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, and also Gadot, follows a few months later, hitting theaters November 17, 2017.
