Carol Danvers has a new villain on her hands.
Velvet Buzzsaw and Nocturnal Animals star Zawe Ashton has joined the upcoming Captain Marvel sequel alongside Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani as a new villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Helmed by Candyman director Nia DaCosta, Captain Marvel 2 will see Carol Danvers team up with Parris’ Monica Rambeau and Vellani’s Kamala Khan.
As revealed by Deadline, Zawe Ashton will star as the main villain in Nia DaCosta‘s Captain Marvel 2, although it’s not yet clear who she’ll be playing. Since Ashton will go toe-to-toe with Danvers, it makes sense that she’ll come with her own set of abilities or as a cosmic threat. Funnily enough, Zawe Ashton foreshadowed her role in the film two years ago for Halloween when she donned Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel costume. Take a look below.
What do you make of the casting news? Are you excited to see Zawe Ashton next to Brie Larson in the sequel? Who will she be playing in the MCU? Sound-off in the comments below!
