Early ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Concept Art Reveals A Different Look For Gamora

Andy Park has shared an early piece of concept art from Guardians of the Galaxy that showcases a different look for Zoe Saldana’s Gamora.

One of the biggest questions heading into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is how much of a role Zoe Saldana’s Gamora will play. In Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos killed her, but at the end of Avengers: Endgame, 2014 Gamora is still alive in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline.

Gamora’s green appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is already pretty accurate to her look in the comics with a few minor changes. Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development Andy Park shared an early piece of Guardians of the Galaxy concept art on Instagram that reveals a different look for Gamora that was done before Zoe Saldana was cast:

“Here’s another closeup- This is a concept design of Gamora I did for the 1st Guardians of the Galaxy. Fun fact: this was actually her approved design. Eventually James Gunn changed his mind and decided to go with a simpler look for her face. This was also done before they cast Zoe Saldana. So I just painted a placeholder non-specific face.”

Here is the synopsis for Avengers: Endgame:

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

Avengers: Endgame is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD.
