Zoe Saldana Was Almost Cast As Lois Lane In Zack Snyder’s ‘Man Of Steel’

It seems that we once almost had a very different Lois Lane as Zack Snyder almost cast Zoe Saldana in his 2013 Superman film, Man of Steel.

During a recent interview with Comic Book Debate, Zack Snyder opened up about his time on Man of Steel, the DC Universe, and his other films. During the interview, Zack Snyder had nothing but positive things to say about the character of Lois Lane in Man of Steel. When talking about Lois Lane’s opening scene in Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, Zack Snyder stated that the pick was between Amy Adams and Zoe Saldana in Man of Steel:

Amy actually inspired that opening scene in Batman v Superman. She mentioned journalists who have been in war zones and we went along with it. At a time, it was between her and Zoe Saldana.

When the casting decision of Lois Lane in Man of Steel was questioned by the person conducting the interview Zack Snyder simply laughed and stated that Zoe Saldana and Amy Adams were different but both had a strong presence:

They’re totally different, but their presence is super strong.

He did not, however, give any reason behind why he did not cast Zoe Saldana as Lois Lane in Man of Steel but from the sound of things, we could have had a very different Lois Lane should Zack Snyder have gone another way.

What do you all make of this? Do you think Zoe Saldana would have made a better Lois Lane? Was Zack Snyder right in his casting in Man of Steel? Was Zoe Saldana better off with Marvel? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Zack Snyder’s last DC film was 2017’s Justice League which was also the last film Lois Lane appeared in. Here is a plot synopsis for the film:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League is now available to own on DVD, Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and Digital HD.

Man of Steel is now available to own on DVD, Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and Digital HD.

Zoe Saldana’s latest superhero film, Avengers: Endgame is now in theaters.
