Although there has not been much news on Warner Bros. and DC’s Batgirl project in recent months, fans are still proposing potential contenders for the role in the heroine’s upcoming feature film. Over the past weekend, one fan expressed their hope of seeing Batgirl being portrayed by actress Zoey Deutch, the star of Netflix’s 2018 romantic comedy Set It Up.
In a post on Twitter, the fan in question posted images of Zoey Deutch and Batgirl from the animated film adaptation of The Killing Joke while noting that they only want to see the Set It Up star portray the live-action version of the character. In response, Zoey Deutch retweeted the post and included a caption reading, “yes please,” followed by a bat emoji.

Zoey Deutch will soon re-team with Set It Up co-star Glen Powell, writer Katie Silberman, and producers Juliet Berman and Justin Nappi on a new romantic comedy for Netflix. Tentatively titled Most Dangerous Game, the new project will not be a follow-up to Set It Up.
Joss Whedon has previously signed on to write, direct, and produce a Batgirl film before exiting the project, stating he could not crack the story for the project. A couple of months later, Bumblebee writer Christina Hodson was hired to pen the Batgirl script after reportedly impressing Warner Bros. with her work on the screenplay for Birds of Prey.
Batgirl is one of the many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC. These projects include The Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Black Adam, Cyborg, Supergirl, New Gods, and Nightwing.
