‘Zombieland: Double Tap’ Officially Rated R

The upcoming horror comedy sequel Zombieland: Double Tap has received an R Rating from the Motion Picture Association of America.

According to the MPAA, Zombieland: Double Tap has been Rated R for bloody violence, language throughout, some drug and sexual content. In comparison to the original 2009 film, that was Rated R for horror violence/gore and language.

Zombieland: Double Tap comes 10 years after the original film, which starred Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin. The 2009 film grossed $102.4 million worldwide on a budget of $23.6 million. Before the sequel was officially announced, Amazon produced a pilot for a television series based on Zombieland that received negative reviews and not picked up to series by Amazon.

Here is the official synopsis for Zombieland: Double Tap:

A decade after Zombieland became a hit film and a cult classic, the lead cast (Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Abigail Breslin, and Emma Stone) have reunited with director Ruben Fleischer (Venom) and the original writers Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick (Deadpool) for Zombieland 2: Double Tap. In the sequel, written by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick and Dave Callaham, through comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland, these four slayers must face off against the many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer from a script written by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick and Dave Callaham, Zombieland: Double Tap stars Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, Rosario Dawson, Zoey Deutch, Thomas Middleditch, and Luke Wilson.

Zombieland: Double Tap will be released in theatres on October 11, 2019.
