It looks like Disney is on a roll as its latest animated feature Zootopia has officially crossed the $1 billion dollar mark globally, meaning that it’s only the second movie to do so this year after Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War. What’s even more impressive is that this is the 11th time that the studio has managed to accomplish the feat.
The movie has so far grossed $337.2 million at the North American box office and an additional $663.5 million overseas for a current worldwide total of just over $1 billion. It’s not surprising that the movie became a box office smash as it received an A CinemaScore from audiences and is also currently sitting at 98 % on Rotten Tomatoes.
Zootopia features the voices of Jason Bateman, Ginnifer Goodwin, Idris Elba, Alan Tudyk, J. K. Simmons, Jenny Slate, Octavia Spencer, Nate Torrence, Tommy Chong and Shakira. The animated movie is currently playing in theaters everywhere and is set to be released on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD on June 7th.
