In a recent convention appearance, Arrow star Steven Amell revealed that there was a scene cut from the upcoming Elseworlds crossover because it made fun of Batman.
During the appearance, the Arrow star talked about a number of things relating to the upcoming crossover event. One of the more interesting things that he revealed, however, was that a line of dialog that was cut because it made fun of Batman. The joke had to do with the Bat Signal and Oliver Queen’s disapproval of it:
There was a line that was cut, I think it was because I made fun of the Bat Signal. Grant points to the Bat Signal and he goes, “Huh?” and I go, “So what? It’s a stupid signal.”
From the sound of things, some of the show’s higher ups don’t have a sense of humor regarding Batman.
The upcoming Arrow crossover event is set to be one of the most ambitious the CW has attempted. With major roles entirely switched around, the Monitors becoming a major threat, the reappearance of Superman, and the first appearance of Batwoman, it will be something to behold. It is rather strange, however, that given the number of Batman villains that have appeared in the show that the Caped Crusader has yet to make any appearance in any of the Arrowverse shows. But from the sound of things, no one wants anyone cracking jokes about the character in any capacity.
What do you all make of this cut line? Would you like to see our characters poke fun at the more mainstream superheroes or was it better that the cut the joke out? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
