The first trailer for Avengers: Endgame has revealed that Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), a.k.a. Iron Man, is in a tricky situation after the battle on Titan.
Avengers: Infinity War‘s Titan sequence had a lot of important story information and twists that took place within it. It’s on Titan that Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) discovers all of the possible outcomes of the future. It’s where Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) infamously lost his cool and foiled his team’s attempt to retrieve the Infinity Gauntlet from Thanos (Josh Brolin), and of course, it’s where Iron Man and Nebula (Karen Gillan) had to watch some of their fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe allies fade away into oblivion.
This sets up a very deep path of redemption for Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame and the film’s trailer shows fans that it only gets worse from there. In the trailer, Stark is in Star-Lord’s ship alongside Nebula, though the opening moments of the trailer feature him alone with his Iron Man mask leaving a final message for Pepper Potts (Gwenyth Paltrow). Tony is letting Pepper, and the audience, know that food and water have been gone for days and the oxygen on the ship will only last until the morning. The trailer doesn’t reveal how the beloved Iron Man and his new ally Nebula will get out of the situation but it’s quite possible that Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) could come to their aid.
Captain Marvel didn’t appear in the trailer for Avengers: Endgame but she will be playing a role in the film, which hits theaters a little over a month after her solo film opens. There could definitely be some other forces at play that will help Nebula and Iron Man but fans may have to wait for the film to open in theaters to discover how the duo will reach Earth and aid the fellow MCU heroes in fixing Thanos’ devastating attack.
