Alexandra Shipp will reprise her role as young Storm in Dark Phoenix, but many fans are already looking towards the future of the X-Men film series now that Disney has completed its acquisition of 21 Century Fox’s assets. While most are excited to see Storm and the other X-Men heroes join the MCU, Alexandra Shipp noted that she has mixed feelings about it as she believes Storm already has a limited role in Dark Phoenix without being placed into an even larger ensemble:
“I would and I wouldn’t (like it), because Storm barely has anything to say as it is. I don’t know about you all (other actors) but like we never talk. So it would be really nice if we weren’t piled into yet another jam packed cast, in which you only see me in the back of the shot like f***ing sasquatch.”
Do you agree with Alexandra Shipp’s comment about Storm already not having enough to do? Would you like to see Storm join the MCU in an ensemble film or would you prefer to see the character get a solo movie? Are you excited to see what Storm is up to in Dark Phoenix? Let us know below!
In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.
Directed by Simon Kinberg, Dark Phoenix stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain.
Dark Phoenix will be released in theaters on June 7, 2019.
