Watchmen continues to deliver with quality and surprises. Following the big reveal that Angela Abar’s grandfather was the Hooded Justice, it turns out her husband is a famous superhero as well. It is revealed at the end of Watchmen episode seven that Cal Abar, played by Aquaman star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, is actually Doctor Manhattan.
Doctor Manhattan has been a looming presence in HBO’s Watchmen with many wondering if he would ever appear in the series. Doctor Manhattan has actually been in the show the entire time under the guise of Cal Abar. There have also been many clues hinting that Doctor Manhattan has been in Tulsa and not Mars placed throughout the season.
One clue lied in Laurie Blake’s Doctor Manhattan dildo seen in episode three. The backstory for the sex toy was revealed on Peteypedya, which services as supplementary material for HBO’s Watchmen, similar to what’s in the original graphic novel. The backstory reveals that the name for the Doctor Manhattan dildo is called Excalibur and was created by Dan Dreiberg, the second Nite Owl.
