Most Exciting Highlights From New York Comic-Con

Animation

There are tons of new material coming from the world of animation. For Marvel, Ultimate Spider-Man is coming to an end with a brand new series titled Marvel’s Spider-Man premiering sometime in 2017 on Disney XD. Come to think of it, it feels like animated Spidey shows have rebooted just as much as the films have. Disney XD also announced that there will be special shorts featuring Marvel’s Ant-ManPerhaps this can be testing ground for a potential full-length series in the near future.

For DC, new footage of Justice League Dark was screened, and it featured Constantine, Batman, Zatanna, Deadman, Jason Blood and Swamp Thing in action. Out of all the upcoming DC animated movies, this is definitely the one I’m looking forward to the most – although I am still a bit hesitant of the addition of Batman, but then again you need to reach out to the non-hardcore fans somehow. Speaking of Batman, with the upcoming Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders animated film along the way, it was announced that Captain Kirk himself, William Shatner will be lending his voice talents to Two-Face. Given that these animated films are calling back to the classic 1966 television series, Shatner is a *perfect* choice. I can already imagine the Shatnerisms coming out of Two-Face’s mouth, and it’s leaving me quite giddy with excitement.
